The Right Honourable David Johnston
BA, LLB
Christopher is a highly regarded business leader and mentor. His career spans over 26 years in the steel industry, working for Novamerican Steel Inc., a NASDAQ-listed company, from 1982 to 2007, and serving as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Board Director from 1997-2007. Mr. Pickwoad was born in Mauritius, raised in England and moved to Canada in 1959. From 2005 to 2013 he served as Board Director and Chair of the Audit Committee for Primary Energy Recycling Corporation, a TSX-listed energy recycling producer. He most recently served as Board Director of NOVA Montréal, a community-based, not-for-profit organization focused on caring for people who are ill or nearing the end of life and families who support them.
David Johnston is a Canadian academic, author and statesman. He served as Canada’s 28th Governor General from 2010 to 2017, and as President and Vice-Chancellor at both McGill University and the University of Waterloo for a combined tenure of over 27 years. He was born in Sudbury, raised in Sault Ste. Marie, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, later obtaining Bachelor of Laws degrees from both the University of Cambridge and Queen’s University. He is currently Board Chair of the Rideau Hall Foundation, Chair of the Leaders’ Debates Commission and sits on several corporate and non-profit boards.
J. Ian Giffen serves as a Corporate Director and as an Advisor to global technology companies and investment funds. Ian is currently Chairman of Kinaxis Inc. (KSX.TSX), the leading global provider of cloud-based, software-as-a-service solutions for supply chain planning, and Lead Director of D2L Inc.,( DTOL.TSX) a global developer of cloud-based software used by schools, higher education, and businesses for online and blended classroom learning. He is also a Director of the CSA Group, a global standards organization dedicated to safety, social good and sustainability.
In addition, he is active in the not for profit sector and currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Stratford Festival and previously served on the Boards of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank

Dr. Jack Kitts received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1980. After a 3-year tour of duty as a medical officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, he specialized in anesthesiology and completed a research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He joined the Department of Anesthesia at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1988, where he served as the director of research and medical director of the preoperative assessment clinic prior to his appointment as Chief of the department and Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, faculty of medicine.
In 1998, Dr. Kitts was appointed Vice-President of Medical Affairs and led the medical staff during a complex restructuring in which three hospitals and five large programs were merged into The Ottawa Hospital. He completed his master’s degree in business administration in 2001 and was named President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital in February 2002, a position he held until his retirement on June 26, 2020.
With more than I,000 beds, 12,000 employees and approximately 1,400 physicians, The Ottawa Hospital is recognized as one of the largest and most important research and teaching hospitals in Canada. Its research institute is one of the foremost institutes in Canada, involving more than 1500 scientists, clinical investigators, trainees and staff.
Dr. Kitts’ inclusive team-oriented strategic leadership, passion for delivering quality patient-centered care, and the development and mentoring of emerging healthcare leaders, has been a central, unifying force in his leadership and vision for health care delivery. Dr. Kitts is known nationally for his focus and expertise in patient experience, performance measurement and physician engagement.

Dr. Cortel-LeBlanc is a fluently bilingual (English/French) clinical neurologist with special interests in post-traumatic headache, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and healthcare system improvement.
She is a consultant neurologist at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa where she is also a Rotation Director in Undergraduate Medical Education. At the Ontario Medical Association, Dr. Cortel-LeBlanc is on the Neurology Section Executive.
She is extensively trained in evidence-based protocols for headache treatment including botulinum toxin injections (Botox).

Alex is a seasoned business executive with more than two decades of leadership experience in the public and private sectors. She is former Vice-President, Strategy and Public Affairs at CBC/Radio-Canada, and former Executive Director, Catalyst Canada. Her experience also includes a number of years as Executive Director of Policy in the Ontario government, managing the Premier’s policy team. A passionate advocate for nurturing and growing Canadian excellence, Alex leads the team at 360 and works closely with policy leaders and experts in the concussion community to advance the agenda.
A passionate advocate for patient-centered service delivery and process improvement, Chelsea’s experience includes roles in operations, patient relations and physician model of care design in the fast-paced hospital environment. She has also worked with non-profit organizations such as Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières, engaging support for humanitarian medical aid in over 70 countries. Chelsea is currently the manager of Trillium Health Partner Solutions, a new division at THP which is responsible for leading the hospital's innovation and research work.
Charlotte is a post-doctoral fellow at McMaster University, and an adjunct lecturer in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Toronto with a focus on concussion management and rehabilitation. A registered physiotherapist, she is founder of ALPHA Health Services, a leading physiotherapy and healthcare clinic based in Toronto. Dr. Anderson has focused her clinical work on musculoskeletal practice, treating a wide range of conditions related to sport, work and the rigors of daily life. Her research has been published in peer reviewed journals and presented at conferences across the country, and she has received several awards for her skills, teaching, research and mentorship. Dr. Anderson currently serves as a member of the executive of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Private Practice Division) as Education Lead.
Dr. Johnston is a well-respected family physician in Ottawa and a Clinician-Investigator at the Institut du Savoir Montfort and Bruyere Research Institute. She is also Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, University of Ottawa. Dr. Johnston’s innovative research focuses on improving performance measurement systems to understand what leads to better patient experiences and outcomes. She has led patient engagement work across the country to help deliver the best care to patients and build the research, evidence, and tools to innovate and evolve patient care towards the future.

Priority Measures for Publicly Reporting Primary Care Performance
Nick is a renowned concussion researcher, clinician and educator. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and was awarded a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Pediatric Concussion in 2020. He is an occupational therapist and through his research program, leads local, provincial, national and international initiatives designed to help children and youth get back to the things they need, want and love to do after a concussion. Nick was the former co-Director of the Concussion Centre and the Holland Family Chair in Acquired Brain Injury at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. He co-leads the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation’s Living Guideline for Diagnosing and Managing Pediatric Concussion, and has extensive experience translating and implementing concussion knowledge to a variety of stakeholder audiences in healthcare, education and sport communities across Canada.

An internationally recognized sports medicine physician and concussion expert, Dr. Leddy is Professor of Internal Medicine, Clinical Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University at Buffalo. He is also Director of the University at Buffalo Concussion Management Clinic, and creator of the renowned Buffalo Concussion Treadmill Protocol, an approach that uses sub-symptom threshold aerobic exercise as therapy for sport-related concussion and for patients with persistent symptoms. Patients treated at Dr. Leddy’s concussion management clinic include players from the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL).

Dr. Zemek is a leading global pediatric concussion expert. A noted clinician and researcher, he is an Emergency Physician at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and Senior Scientist, CHEO Research Institute. He is also Professor, Department of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine, and Clinical Research Chair in Pediatric Concussion at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Zemek led the largest prospective concussion study in the world to-date, and co-leads an international team developing the first-ever 'Living Guideline' for pediatric concussion management. He is Director of the Clinical Research Unit at CHEO and Chair of the Pediatric Emergency Research Canada (PERC) network.
